NPTC/City and Guilds Qualifications

Do you need NPTC/City and Guilds qualifications?

Arbsystem carries out tree surgeon courses for chainsaw training and assessments for NPTC (National Proficiency Test Council) and City & Guilds certificates of competence (CoC) in Hampshire. Arbsystem specialises in providing courses for vocational qualifications, which are needed in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture and agriculture to use chainsaws, carry out tree felling and work at height with chainsaws in trees.

In addition to providing courses aimed at gaining the Certificates of Competency (CoC), Arbsystem also provides updated training which counts as Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Update or Refresher training, as it is sometimes called, is strongly advised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to be carried out every three to five years depending on the frequency of specialist tasks carried out by the operative.

The Vocational education that is offered at Arbsystem is suitable for complete beginners or more experienced operatives, which require Land-based qualifications If you need NPTC/City and Guilds qualifications for these Land Based Services, check out our course list and availability or you can email us and book a FREE telephone consultation with one of our representatives!

Having recently attended the small tree felling course, I would like to say a big thank you to Gillon and his team, including Paul our instructor and Nick our assessor. The course was enjoyable and a steep learning curve! I have been impressed with the professionalism of the instructors and always felt safe, knowing they all have considerable experience in Tree Surgery work. As a contract Hedge Layer, I would recommend other Hedge Layers to consider the courses run by Gillon. As for myself, I now feel confident, competent and qualified to undertake any challenges that overstood hedgerows pose, including coppicing work.

I've used chainsaws for many years, but attending the Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting course was really useful and I lerant a lot to make me safer, which I'm now putting to use in working in a small wood. Looking forwards to the next course.

Just what I needed! I’m so pleased to have taken the Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting course! Pitched at a perfect level by seasoned experts. I was completely prepared for the assessment and I know I can work competently, effectively and safely as a result of this training. I’m so impressed with Arbsystem that as soon as I can I will attend the small tree felling course. Highly recommended!

I recently completed the tree climbing and aerial rescue course. As a novice climber, I felt my confidence develop throughout the week. Dan and Gill were excellent, both professional, extremely knowledgeable and supportive. The course was brilliant and I would recommend their training programmes.

Having recently attended to complete my cross cutting course I must say both the trainer and assessor were excellent. The course was enjoyable and informative and I now have a lot more confidence using my chainsaw knowing I'm operating safely.

I did my cross-cut and chainsaw maintenance (CS30) at Plumpton College, which was good, but having just completed the small tree felling course (CS31) with Arbsystem, I wish I had done them both here, it's really improved my confidence and skill with a chainsaw massively. The set up at Arbsystem's base is great and the felling sites are proper woodland sites so you get real world experience, the instructors are really friendly, knowledgeable and build your confidence whatever your starting level. If I decide to do the next level course I will be definitely coming back here! Thanks again for a really enjoyable few days.
